I have been employed by Franciscan Health-Lafayette since graduation in 1977. My journey to GI came by way of Orthopedics then ICU. I came to the Outpatient Department in 1984 as a staff nurse and then became the department manager in 1989. In addition to GI endoscopy and bronchoscopy, the OP department provides a variety of services including pain procedures, infusion clinic, minor procedures, prep and recovery of interventional radiology patients, OP Lab, etc. I love the variety that my unit offers.
I have been attending the INSGNA meetings since its inception. I am grateful that we have an organization that focuses on advancements in GI, education of nurses and associates, research, and I could go on. I have enjoyed networking with peers around the state over the last 30 years. I have served on the Program Committee and as the Program Chair, and as Treasurer for INSGNA.
Deb has been a member of SGNA since 2007 and she became a CGRN that same year. She began serving on the Program Planning Committee in 2010 and became Co-Chair in 2011. I would recommend anyone in GI becoming involved in SGNA. Deb is currently a staff nurse at the University Motility Lab in downtown Indianapolis. Prior to that, she worked at St Vincent Carmel Digestive Health Center for ten years.
