Education: Graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1976. I then went on for my Bachelor’s degree from St. Francis College in 1985. I was a Med-Surg nurse for 4 years and then transferred to Endoscopy. I took one of the first certification exams and became certified in Endoscopy in 1985. I have worked in Endoscopy as a staff nurse and Manager at Lutheran Hospital and Administrator at Fort Wayne Endoscopy Center over the past 40 years. Having recently retired from Endoscopy I then worked parttime for the Employee Health Department for 3 years at the Covid Call Center. Involvement: I have been an active member of the INSGNA and SGNA for 40 years. My involvement in INSGNA has included Program Committee Chair, Membership Chair, President- Elect, President and Immediate Past President. I was on the SGNA Board of Directors as a Director and Secretary, Nominations & Elections Committee member, Director of Special Interest Groups, Budget and Finance Committee member, Director of Communication and Education Committees, Practice Committee member. I also participated on the Infection Prevention Committee for several years. I then transitioned to the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN). My involvement was from participating on the Item Writer/Review Committee, GI-Specific Review Committee, ABCGN Board to President.

I graduated from Indiana Central University with an Associate Degree in Nursing and obtained my licensure in 1981. I then graduated in 1985 with a BSN also from Indiana Central University. I began working in GI at St Vincent Carmel Hospital from 2007-2013. joined SGNA in 2009 at which time became CGRN certified. Currently, I am employed at IU, where I worked as a motility nurse from 2013-2015, and since 2015 work at the Doug Rex Endoscopy Suites, an outpatient facility. I have served on the program planning committee, and as that chairperson. Currently I serve as the treasurer. I am grateful to have an organization that focuses on advancements in GI, furthering education of nurses and associates, and the networking of peers around the state.
I graduated from DePauw University in 2005 with a degree in Journalism. I worked in many industries but found a love for high end serving until deciding to follow in my mother’s footsteps and go back to school for Nursing. I graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a BSN in 2018. I earned my nursing stripes on Methodist’s Multi-Specialty Unit A6S which was a baptism of fire by quickly becoming the Night Charge before and after Covid. A lifelong friend saved me from the lonely spiral of floor nursing by introducing me to University Hospital’s GI/ERCP unit. I immediately fell in love with the multidisciplinary teamwork and advancing world of endoscopy. I truly love going to conferences and learning, then tying what I’ve learned to actual cases. I believe that my passion could be infectious when other GI nurses and techs realize the amazing procedures, we are all doing daily. I’d love to help INSGNA anyway I can to spread the excitement.
